Three Friends Studio is the name I have chosen for my shop. Three Friends has a deeper meaning in China, it symbolizes the Three Friends of Winter - Pine, Bamboo and Plum. They are specially chosen by the Chinese scholarsi for these reasons - the pine can live for a long time in harsh conditions, the bamboo is prolific and the plum is the first flowering tree to bloom in the snow. I was fresh out of graduate school representing the scholar and I started my business in an economic downturn. Therefore Three Friends Studio was chosen.
I have been in the antiques and art business for over thirty years. For years I sourced for antiques and furniture in China until the ban on Chinese antiques effective ended my travels. Now I buy what is beautiful and interesting.
