These boxes were traditionally used to store important documents, valuables, or personal items, and were crafted from semi-hardwoods with brass fittings. The box shows influences from 17th century Ming Dynasty reflected by the cartouches on the base with beaded edges. The most striking feature is the original patina, the mahogany lacquer has weathered in patches and some areas are worn down to bare wood. See less
