The creamy crackle glaze with its smooth surface gives it a delicate and timeless appearance. The crackle glaze is a deliberate effect where fine cracks form in the surface layer of the glaze. This effect was originally an accidental result of different cooling rate between the glaze and the body of the porcelain. The crackles here are brown and it is possible tea was used to enhance the crackling pattern. The bottle has a smooth bottom, typical of the fine porcelains produced prior to the 20th century. The top opening is centered and well formed. It is matched with a green aventurine or a green jade like stone, making a nice contrast against the creamy glaze bottle. See less
