This vibrant, hand-blown art glass vase is a quintessential example of the B.A.G. (Barovier Art Glass) line, an experimental contemporary venture by the legendary Barovier & Toso furnace in Murano, Italy.

Designed by the celebrated artist Renato Plesi circa 1995, this piece perfectly captures the bold, postmodern "Memphis-inspired" aesthetic of the 1990s.

​Design & Technique

The vase features a heavy, spherical body enveloped in a dynamic "Rainbow Swirl" or Arlecchino (Harlequin) pattern. Rich, saturated ribbons of primary red, sun-yellow, cobalt blue, and emerald green wrap around the core in a fluid, continuous motion. The piece is anchored by three masterfully applied clear glass tripod "scroll" feet, a signature structural element of Plesi’s work for the B.A.G. series.
