Freshness and warmth, joy and sincerity, mystery and discovery, energy and romance—these are the elements that define my artistic world. Through color, movement, and light, I strive to create works that inspire optimism, evoke emotion, and bring beauty into everyday life.
I am the heir to generations of artists and craftsmen, from self-taught iconographers and creators of church frescoes to master woodcarvers whose work adorned magnificent altars throughout Europe. This artistic heritage has profoundly shaped my appreciation for beauty, craftsmanship, and creative expression.
I believe that art begins where words end. It is a universal language that speaks directly to the heart and soul, awakening emotions, memories, and reflections that enrich our lives and deepen our understanding of ourselves and others.
Whether working on canvas, glass, or crystal, I seek to create pieces that are vibrant, uplifting, and uniquely expressive. My extensive travels around the world have influenced my artistic vision, and I often think of the world itself as my palette—rich with color, culture, contrast, and inspiration.
Color possesses extraordinary power. Its vibrations influence our perceptions, emotions, and sense of well-being. Through radiant hues and luminous compositions, I aim to celebrate life in all its diversity and beauty. My paintings often transform with changing light, creating a sense of movement and vitality that gives them a living presence within a space.
My limited-edition hand-painted crystal and glass creations are individually crafted using the highest-quality materials. Through a unique process of layering paints and glazes developed over many years, each piece becomes a true original. My hand-painted glass and crystal collections, created between 1994 and 2007, remain among the most recognized and collected aspects of my work, with many of my earliest creations from the 1990s continuing to bring pleasure to their owners today.
Every piece is signed and numbered. In my collections of wine, champagne, and cordial glasses, editions are intentionally limited, typically ranging from six to twelve pieces per design.
Whether displayed in a private residence, gallery, hospitality setting, or commercial space, my work is created to bring serenity, movement, positive energy, and a distinctive presence to its surroundings. My greatest reward as an artist is knowing that something I created continues to inspire and delight another person for years to come.
More recently, I have extended this spirit of creative expression beyond the visual arts through my YouTube channel, **Monique Nichols Reflections**. There, I share personal reflections, experiences, and lessons gathered through a life of art, travel, change, loss, discovery, and new beginnings. Just as my paintings invite the viewer to discover something personal within color and movement, my reflections are an invitation to pause, think, feel, and perhaps see something familiar from a different perspective.
For me, creativity has never been confined to a canvas. It is a way of seeing—and a way of living.
