Original Abstract Expressionist Oil Painting on European Linen
by Monique Nichols
"The Quiet Path " is an invitation to slow down.
Painted in luminous layers of soft greens, warm golds, gentle lavenders, and delicate coral tones, this original abstract composition creates the feeling of light moving through nature. Its flowing geometric forms suggest pathways, quiet forests, ancient architecture, or memories that gently surface from within. Every viewer discovers something different, making the experience deeply personal.
My paintings are created intuitively rather than from sketches or predetermined plans. I begin with color and movement, allowing the composition to develop naturally until it reveals its own direction. The painting becomes a conversation between emotion, instinct, and imagination.
As a child I loved fairy tales, and although I never consciously set out to paint scenes from those stories, fragments of those magical landscapes occasionally find their way into my work. Looking at Internal Peace, I am reminded of one of those imagined places—a quiet path leading somewhere beautiful and unknown.
Years ago, while I owned my own gallery, a woman entered and immediately connected with one of my abstract floral paintings. She explained that her spiritual teacher had described the exact colors and flowing forms she needed in her home. Unable to purchase it immediately, she returned every week, faithfully making small payments until it finally became hers. Once she took the painting home, I never saw her again, but I have never forgotten how profoundly art can speak to someone.
This original painting has been exhibited over the years and carefully transported between several exhibition venues while remaining in excellent original condition.
I personally stretched this fine European linen over the stretcher bars before beginning the painting, completing every stage of its creation by hand using professional oil paints.
One of the qualities I love most about this piece is the way it responds to changing light. Throughout the day the colors gently shift, revealing new layers of warmth, depth, and movement. While every effort has been made to photograph the artwork accurately, the original possesses far greater richness and luminosity than photographs can fully capture.
The handcrafted exhibition frame was created specifically for gallery presentation. The painting is equally beautiful displayed unframed or with a custom frame chosen to complement your own interior.
Whether displayed in a contemporary home, executive office, meditation space, boutique hotel, or professional environment, "Internal Peace" brings a sense of harmony, quiet energy, and timeless elegance.

From the Artist
Every original painting I create is one of a kind. I never paint from photographs or reproduce previous works. Each painting develops intuitively through color, movement, and emotion, becoming a unique expression that can never be duplicated.

The painting is done in oils and it is on Linen brought from Europe. Although I have taken photographs during the day, having the colors come true as they are is impossible. In reality, they are much more vibrant. It is like they have their own life since the shapes and color combination create so much movement. The color combination is very peaceful and serene and has a calm yet energetic effect on the viewer. All my paintings change very much by the surrounding light and objects. It would look great with an accent light above or below the painting. The frame around the painting is hand made and it was made just to give more of a finished look as it was being exhibited at a show. A more appropriate frame would look great. Wonderful for any residential and commercial environment less
