The name Viyella is based on the unusually-named valley road, Via Gellia, (the A5012) near Matlock, where in 1890 Hollins & Co acquired a mill used for the early production of Viyella. Viyella was the first woven fabric in UK.
Viyella is a blend of wool and cotton first woven in 1893 in England, and soon to be the "first branded fabric in the world", developed by James and Robert Sissons of William Hollins & Co.
Viyella was a soft dress-weight fabric that was more resistant to shrinkage than any comparable pure wool alternative (challis, for example). In its early years it was marketed as a fabric which combined lightness and fashion with warmth and durability. One 1920s advertisement called it a "guaranteed unshrinkable fine wool flannel" for women who wanted both "daintiness" and "protectiveness".
In 1961, Viyella was awarded the Queen´s Royal Warrant, gaining a high profile in London and Paris; being popular and used by designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and Nina Ricci.

Details:
Made from a thin flannel woven wool traditional and vintage Viyella fabric on both sides, combining lightness and fashion.
Yellow, white and black check prints feature on a lovely red background. Inspired in a Scottish style black spots enrich and beautify this tartan plaid design.
Professionally finished for durability: interior seams are over locked.
Easy removal and perfect termination with a matching Invisible Zipper, sewn at the bottom. I think that invisible zipper is the most elegant way to finish a pillow cover only and when this zipper is PROFESSIONALLY Sewn. In SABDECO pillow covers the metal skewer pull of this type of zippers is what you will see and not also the fabric of the invisible zipper.

This pillow cover is made to fit a 20x20 inches insert. My designs are always cut slightly smaller than the pillow insert size to ensure a "perfectly-plump" fit and I always suggest using a high-quality pillow inserts like the ones I supply.
