Mid 20th Century Korean lacquer cabinet is an example of traditional najeonchilgi craftsmanship, featuring extensive inlaid mother-of- pearl decoration set against a deep black laquer ground. The cabinet ile chesy- stys designed in the form of a classic apethecary style chest , with an impressive grid of small drawers with paneled doors that create a dramatic architectural facade.

The front is richly adorned with intricate shell inlay sces depicting cranes, waterfall, pine trees, flowering plants, flowing landscapes and scholar's pavilions. All symbolic motifs in Korean decorative arts. Cranes represents longevity and good forune, while pine trees symbolise endurance and wisdom. Each motif is carefully set,y hand-cut and individually set forming luminous composition that shimmer with iridescent hues of silver, green, pink blue as light moves across the surface. Behind the cabinet multiple hinged doors are spacious interior storage departments offering practical functionality.. The upper sction includes smaller drawers ideal for jewelry documents or collectible . The piece is finished with original brass Korean- style hardware, including decorative butterfly-form door clasps and engraved escutcheons.
