An important antique French Louis XV transitional style gilt-bronze mounted amaranth & kingwood marquetry table à écrire, by Paul Sormani, Paris, circa 1870.
A beautiful bombe shaped three drawer table by one of the most important French cabinet makers of the late 19th century. The top is exquistley inlaid with floral marquetry & a central panel of criss-crossing stylized flowers, the edge having a gilt bronze gallery. The front is fitted with three drawers each with an ormolu lock plate (key is present) the drawers are inlaid with corresponding stylized floral inlay, this decoration is repeated on the sides & rear of the cabinet.
The top of each leg is mounted with gilt bronze rococo mount, the feet are also decorated with gilt bronze sabots. The lock in the top drawer is engraved " Sormani Paris 10, Rue Charlot ", this table is in remarkable excellent condition and is ready to grace your space.
