After growing up in a peacefully remote valley in the southern Appalachians, I belatedly followed the generation of innocent and enthusiastic dreamers to San Francisco to embrace the Age of Aquarius.
The delusion became apparent soon enough, so I joined the opening team of the Hyatt on Union Square and eventually grew into the futuristic open-atrium Hyatt Regency Embarcadero. I fell in love with its dramatically optimistic Modernism and so, at age 33, elected to go back to school to pursue the affair. Seven years later
I emerged with graduate architecture degrees from Parsons and Princeton.
After more than thirty years’ practice as a multifaceted designer doing both buildings and furniture, I now move on to celebrate my love for both architecture and nature as an artist, as well as continuing my work as a furniture designer. I make vivid impressions of Gaia’s miracles and vibrant views into the history of modern architecture. I like to say that “I embellish physical realities to try to make them even truer.”
