ABOUT THE STUDIO: FELT SO DEVINE
Welcome to Felt So Devine, a fine art studio dedicated to breathing new life into historic European and American craftsmanship. Founded by multi-disciplinary artist Laura Devine, the studio specializes in limited-run archival gallery castings and rich, multi-textural material studies designed exclusively for luxury interiors.
THE HERITAGE CRAFT
Our collections are cast entirely by hand using 100% premium chalkware, pulled from a carefully curated private archive of rare, turn-of-the-century metal confectionery molds. This includes authenticated pieces by the legendary Schall & Co. of New York, Létang Fils of Paris, and Anton Reiche of Dresden. Releasing crisp details from the deep, historic engravings of these heavy metal molds requires absolute precision, making every successful studio release a highly limited collector's piece.
THE MASTER FINISHES
Honoring traditional decorative art techniques, each sculpture is hand-detailed to create a soulful, old-world presence. From hand-applied genuine gold and silver leafing to oxidized verdigris bronze patinas and traditional Pennsylvania redware slip glazes, our finishes are designed to interact beautifully with light and shadow. By embedding rich brown mica powders directly into the raw plaster core of our colored variants, we ensure that any natural aging or intentional distressing reveals stone-like depth rather than sterile white lines.
A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH
In addition to mold art, Laura is an accomplished textile artist specializing in bespoke wool sculptures. This deep understanding of organic texture influences the entire studio's aesthetic. For our heritage holiday collections, this multi-media approach comes together seamlessly, pairing archival silver-leafed figures with custom, hand-crafted needle-felted wool elements created entirely in-studio.
Whether grounding a dark wood library bookshelf, anchoring a custom fireplace mantel, or creating a conversational grouping on an entryway console table, pieces from Felt So Devine bring architectural weight, rich texture, and historical soul to the modern home.
