Poured using an authentic, late-19th-century antique Schall NY confectionery mold, this piece beautifully bridges historic craftsmanship with modern, high-end interior styling.
The sculpture captures a classically modeled horse and rider leaping mid-stride over a detailed, grassy hedgerow. To honor the rich heritage of the vintage cast, it has been finished in our studio using a meticulous, multi-layered artisan gilding technique. The piece was first sealed with a structural dark gesso base before genuine silver leaf sheets were expertly applied and hand-burnished across the form. A rich Valspar antiquing glaze was then flooded into the recessed mane, saddle, and landscape textures, and carefully hand-wiped from the highlights.
This specialized process creates a brilliant, high-contrast "tarnished relic" patina. The deep crevices retain a heavy, smoky shadow that perfectly accentuates every muscle line, while the raised surfaces display a soft, metallic, estate-quality silver gleam. Fully sealed with a dedicated archival metal topcoat to preserve the mirror shine and protect against handling, this substantial piece serves as a sophisticated, old-world focal point for traditional, Hollywood Regency, or grandmillennial aesthetics.
