This pair was purchased by my mother-in-law in New York City directly from Ashley-Kent, Ltd, Antiques to the Trade, on April 8th, 1971 for $2,544.00. Per Google - "Based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, $2,544.00 in 1971 would be equivalent in purchasing power to approximately $20,530.00 to $20,600.00 in March 2026."
She owned them the entire time since in her smoke-free Upper West Side co-op. We have the original paperwork from the antique dealer (see photos) I believe these two chairs are fauteuil chairs.
