A Fabulous Mid-Century Pair of Hand-Forged Iron Side Chairs, in the Manner of Gio Ponti & Tomaso Buzzi Surrealist Arrow Motifs. Skillfully crafted, these were most likely made in Italy, in the 1950s. They have a casual European-California vibe. Reupholstered exclusively for THE TASTEMAKER SHOPPE, in Rose Tarlow striped, green & gold cut-velvet; an unexpected, rich textural contrast against the iron frame. This exclusive designer fabric is no longer in production – making these chairs rarer, more “specialty & found”. A coordinating gold-bronze cord trim around the seat edge gives a tailored, sophisticated finish. We have 2 pairs available, a total of 4 chairs.
Please see our other listings with this Rose Tarlow fabric: A pair of custom throw pillows and (1) re-upholstered Kreiss ottoman.
Rose Tarlow is considered a living design legend, one of the most original, respected talents in the design industry today. Tarlow is an Interior Designer, with her own line of furniture and textiles (exclusive to the trade); her Melrose House showroom is based in Los Angeles, California. Known for mixing traditional, modern aesthetics with casual elements like reclaimed wood, French oak beams, plaster, and stone. She seamlessly blends antiques with minimalism, creating chic Californian interiors. Her A-List clients include David Geffen, Oprah, Barbara Walters, and others. Editor, Marian McEvoy wrote in Veranda Magazine that Tarlow, Albert Hadley, Jacques Grange, Michael Taylor, Renzo Mongiardino, and John Stefanidis, were six interior designers who had an "enormous impact" on "the design world."If you enjoy a story with great provenance, these chairs are for you! As a Curator and Interior Designer, these are the timeless, design qualities I seek – knowing they will transcend time, always in style, never trendy. A treasured find for collectors and enthusiasts of unique and one-of-a-kind pieces.
Please note, we don’t recommend these for primary use, such as at a dining table, although very sturdy and structurally sound, comfort is secondary to their artistic design. They’re very upright, the iron motif isn’t the most comfortable to lean against. These chairs function best as occasional or accent pieces, admired for their chic style.
We know, it’s hard to find, one-of-a-kind pieces! Shop our listings for new inventory, curated from an Interior Architect and Designer’s POV. THE TASTEMAKER SHOPPE offers an exclusive mix of ‘new & old’ furnishings, founded solely on good taste, not limited by any style or era.
