Artist Statement
My paintings are rooted in architectonic abstraction. I construct each work through geometry, proportion, and spatial relationships, sometimes incorporating the golden mean into the composition. Linear and curvilinear structures establish a framework that may emphasize a distinct constructed shape or encompass the entire painting.

I work in layers of oil paint and cold wax, building and reworking the surface to develop texture. Color is not decorative; it functions as a structural element, altering weight, balance, movement, and depth. Each composition begins with a carefully constructed drawing that establishes its underlying structure before painting begins. As the work develops, however, that structure may change, and intuition remains essential. The painting emerges through an ongoing exchange between planning and discovery, precision and organic surface, stability and perceptual movement.
