This piece is an antique salt-glazed stoneware crock stamped with the maker's mark N. CLARK & Co. / ROCHESTER N.Y., produced in Rochester, New York during the mid-19th century (circa 1839–1851).
Maker & Origin: Impressed with the N. Clark & Co. stamp from Nathan Clark’s Rochester pottery operation in New York, which later transitioned under subsequent owners like John Burger.Design & Features: Built with an ovoid-to-cylindrical storage form, a reinforced rounded rim, and applied vertical lug handles on both sides.Material & Use: Crafted from utilitarian alkaline or salt-glazed stoneware common in 19th-century American domestic food preservation and storage.
