These exquisite floriform trumpet-shaped vases are masterfully hand-painted in rich polychrome enamels and gilded accents, featuring traditional Imari motifs of birds, peonies, chrysanthemums, and courtly scenes framed within decorative cartouches. The intricate detailing and layered overglaze enameling reflect the refined artistry of the Arita kilns, celebrated for their export porcelain during Japan’s Meiji era.

Each vase displays medallions left in reserve and registers of stylized Japanese characters, adding to their authenticity and visual rhythm. The scalloped rims, vibrant palette of iron red, cobalt blue, green, and gilt, and the elegant trumpet form all speak to the opulent aesthetic prized in late-19th-century Japonisme décor.

Comparable examples of large Japanese Imari floor vases from this period can be found in major museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, underscoring their historical significance and enduring appeal.

Perfect as statement pieces in grand entryways or sophisticated interiors, this impressive pair bridges traditional Japanese craftsmanship with Western decorative sensibilities—making them ideal for both classic and contemporary settings.
