Amazing etched brass double ashtray with a matchbox safe in the center.
The central piece is designed to hold a standard box of safety matches vertically, with cutouts on the sides to allow access to the striking surface.
Marked "China" on the bottom, indicating it's probably from the 1920s-40s.
The Chinese character mark is translated as Weihai.
Weihai (formerly known as Weihaiwei) is a major coastal port city in the eastern Shandong Province, China.
This is a unique and hard to find piece. Perfect for the brass or tobacianna collector!
