Sommerso means submerged: layers of coloured glass are sunk one within another while molten, and the cooled block is then cut and polished so the colour appears to float in the middle with no edge you can find.

It is heavy for its size and the faceting sends light through it differently from every angle. Made for keys, rings, or for nothing at all.

Acquired from a dealer in Warsaw who described it as Flavio Poli for Seguso, 1970s. We have not examined it for a signature or label, so we pass that attribution on as it was given to us rather than as a verified one.
