Opening its doors in 1865, the historic Hôtel de Noailles was long regarded as one of Marseille’s grand hotels, welcoming travelers, artists, and dignitaries in an atmosphere of refined elegance. Designed by architect Pierre Marius Béranger, the hotel featured more than 300 rooms, magnificent gardens, richly appointed lounges, a Provençal-style dining room, black marble fireplaces, tapestries, and gilded interiors. Throughout its history, it hosted distinguished guests including Richard Wagner, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Prince Philip.
