This highly sculptural piece features a brilliant, glassy emerald-turquoise background glaze that contrasts beautifully with a thick, high-relief slip-painted floral medallion. The sides feature two masterfully molded mythological sea-dragon / gargoyle handles framed by sweeping acanthus foliage. The deep, heavy lead glaze artfully pools into the crevices of the creature's features, giving the piece magnificent three-dimensional contrast and designer appeal.

The unglazed foot rim features an embossed, under-glaze manufacturer's mark reading "MADE IN FRANCE," verifying its authentic heritage. A quintessentially dramatic statement piece perfect for traditional, maximalist, or Art Nouveau interiors. Excellent antique condition. Structurally sound with absolutely no structural cracks, chips, repairs, or water damage to the interior or exterior body.
