A pair of Chinese blue and white glazed stoneware jars, each with a domed lid surmounted by a seated Buddhist lion, or foo dog, finial. The neck of each jar carries a Greek-key (key-fret) meander band above four lion-mask lugs at the shoulder. The body of each jar is hand-painted in cobalt blue with a dense scrolling foliate vine centered by flowering roundels, above a lower register of stylized petal panels. The footring is unglazed, exposing the grey stoneware body; the interior is glazed.
