Exceptional French Boulle style mantel clock raised on its original matching console stand The clock is richly decorated with brass and tortoiseshell style marquetry in the traditional Boulle technique, highlighted with finely cast gilt bronze mounts
The waisted clock case is surmounted by a classical female figure holding a shield, while the sides and front are adorned with scrolling ormolu mounts and foliate ornament
The dial features enamel Roman numeral cartouches set within an elaborate gilt brass dial plate Below the dial is a striking gilt bronze mount depicting a winged figure above a decorative cartouche, flanked by further scrolling ornament
The clock stands on an elegant serpentine console table decorated with matching Boulle style marquetry and gilt bronze mounts, raised on long cabriole legs joined by a shaped lower tier
