Built in 1912 by Henri Negresco, the legendary Hôtel Negresco has long been synonymous with Riviera glamour and Old World elegance. Over the decades its opulent interiors have welcomed an extraordinary roster of guests including Elton John, Salvador Dalí, Grace Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor, among many others.
One of the hotel’s most spectacular features is the Royal Lounge, illuminated by a breathtaking Baccarat chandelier composed of 16,309 crystals, originally commissioned by Nicholas II. The hotel has also played a small but memorable role in music history—during a 1948 stay, Louis Armstrong heard Suzy Delair perform C’est si bon at the hotel and was so taken with the song that he later recorded the now-famous American version in 1950.
