Original 2003 studio ceramic vase by acclaimed California potter Alex Long. This piece is a masterclass in Western Raku firing, showcasing the dramatic intersection of chemistry, heat, and organic form.

This vase features a sophisticated multi-glaze finish that is a signature of Long’s work from the early 2000s:
• Contrasting Textures: Features a high-gloss white crackle glaze paired with a "Lava" or "Crater" glaze that provides a deep, volcanic tactile experience.
• Metallic Accents: Subdued metallic oxides and carbon trapping from the reduction process create a unique, iridescent depth.
• Form: A classic, hand-thrown tapered silhouette that emphasizes the vertical movement of the glazes.
• Dimensions: Approximately 8 inches tall.
• Signature: Hand-signed on the base: "Alex Long 2003".
Condition
Excellent Vintage Condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Please note that the "crazing" (fine cracks) in the white glaze and the bubbling in the dark glaze are intentional characteristics of the Raku firing process and are not defects.
