Each case has a faux-marble trompe l'oeil style painted top panel. The chests are each fronted by two large locking doors. The cases are decorated with scrolling floral and foliate swag ornamentation having rosettes and cameo medallions on the sides. The red brick tones are vibrant and stand out over an aged lacquer ivory parchment toned ground. The paint has an aged, distressed, and weathered patina having a faded finish with small losses commensurate age and use. The cases are supported by elegant, tapered legs on each corner and pairs in the front. Each commode has the original lock plates and keys available. The cases are heavy and solid constructed from thick planks of wood with a beautifully distressed patina. Sold as a pair from an estate in Bel Air, California.
