Design Plus Gallery presents a Female Sculpture in Alabaster by Emilio Fiaschi. Emilio Fiaschi, also called Emiliano Fiaschi, was an Italian sculptor. He was born in Volterra and died in Florence, Italy. From 1883 to 1885, he studied at Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and spent most of his career in Florence, Italy. This is a late 19th century carved alabaster figure of a nude girl looking to dexter and leaning on a console table raised on a griffin support, all on a naturalistic circular base. The sculpture was comprised in the earthquake in San Francisco, 1906, when it was knocked off its pedestal and the poor girl lost her head. It was restored as soundly as possible with the scar going across her neckline. Overall the sculpture is still in good condition for its age.
