This four-panel folding screen, also known as a paravent or pingfeng, is made of embossed and painted leather adorned with gold leaf decoration. It depicts an elaborate Chinoiserie scene featuring figures, foliage, and ships—a European interpretation of Chinese artistic motifs. An inscription on the back reads: “The Conquistadors,” created for Mr. F. W. Woodroof; the design and drawing attributed to A. Crindskope, with execution by Ray F. Dornhecker, 1921.
