Fine Japanese painted 4-panel byobu (folding screen) "Pine Tree" by Yukika, on gold background. Signed and sealed by the artist. Gouache, watercolor and ink on gold-leaf style foil plates over paper. Silk brocade border. Lacquered black wood frame with beautifully engraved copper corners and plaques, showing some age patina. Original label and paper on back. Comes in a carboard storage case. Eight new black metal hooks for easy installation are included. Japan, Showa Era, circa 1980s-1990s. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting nor back, minimal age wear overall, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. This byobu was kept for decades in Kyoto Art Center for preserving design patterns.
