A glorious pair of Rococo carved beechwood side chairs with asymmetrical carving boldly set at the crest and seat rail front, with more interesting carved elements at the knees. Very graceful curves and proportions throughout, with tapering legs and ball and claw front feet. Mid 18th century. Provenance: from the collection of esteemed Connecticut antiques dealer Peter Tillou. Very good condition over all. Slip seats are upholstered in a vintage raspberry cotton damask with some fading and light wear.
