A striking and exceptionally rare set of four (4) antique French porcelain plates. Featuring a beautifully rendered Scottish heraldic connection. Produced by the renowned Haviland & Co. in Limoges, France, these 6-inch plates bear the authentic underglaze green "Haviland France" backmark dating them between 1894 and 1931.
This set was custom-commissioned and entirely hand-painted with the official ancestral crest of the historic Scottish Clan Graham. The original plates were plain white from Haviland & Co. Then they were custom painted to show the Scottish clan’s symbol and motto. The central heraldic design showcases a falcon preying upon a heron, set atop a traditional blue and silver torse. Crowning the artwork is a gilded ribbon bearing the iconic Graham family motto: "N'oublie" (French for Do not forget). The crisp white porcelain body is beautifully framed by asymmetrical, vibrant blue rococo scrollwork and finished with a delicate, hand-gilded rim.
Given their size and unique historical lineage, these plates serve beautifully as bread/butter plates, elegant appetizer dishes, or as a striking wall display for collectors of fine European porcelain and Scottish heritage. These are pre-owned items so please see all pictures and ask any questions.
