Each vase features a classic baluster form with a flared mouth, a waisted neck, a broad, rounded shoulder, a tapering body, and a splayed foot, resting on a fitted dark wood display stand. The exteriors are richly decorated against a deep sapphire blue ground that is densely patterned with a fine, scrolling gilt wire cloud motif. The main body is adorned with vibrant, hand-painted motifs: large, lush pink peony blossoms with detailed petals and green leaves, accompanied by two magnificent phoenixes in flight with vibrant red, orange, and yellow plumage. The neck features a smaller, complementary peony spray, and the foot is decorated with a band of colorful lappets. The rims, bases, and decorative bands are finished with polished gold gilding. The interiors are glazed in a bright, solid turquoise blue. This is a highly decorative and impressive pair, ideal for display or as a meaningful gift.
