A beautiful late Art Nouveau stoneware vase designed by Josef Ekberg for Gustavsberg, Sweden, signed and dated "J Ekberg Gustafsberg 1918" on the base.
The vase is decorated in Ekberg's celebrated sgraffito technique, with stylized blossoms, scrolling acanthus, and feathered leaves carved through a deep periwinkle-blue slip to reveal the pale celadon ground beneath. The softly squared neck rises from a full, rounded body, and the design repeats symmetrically around all sides.
Josef Ekberg (1877–1945) was one of Gustavsberg's leading artists, and his sgraffito wares are among the most collected Swedish ceramics of the period.
Height: 29.5 cm (approx. 11.6 in).
