This is an antique decorative accent chair featuring various materials stylized in a fanciful way with nods to Victorian, Art … Read more This is an antique decorative accent chair featuring various materials stylized in a fanciful way with nods to Victorian, Art Noveau and Aesthetic Movement styles. Similar in style to the Heywood-Wakefield furniture American makers of the day who specialized in wicker, rattan and Mid-Century modern. This chair is believed to have been made around the early to mid 20th century.

The chair itself has a solid wood structure frame wrapped and ornamented with various materials of wicker and rattan, with areas of tightly woven wicker and open cane paneled seating. The elaborate curled “fiddlehead” motifs , symmetrical scrolls, pierced/open areas and central elongated finial offering fleur de lis effect. Chairs such as these were of the highly fanciful Victorian wicker tradition.

The chair is sturdy, level and in good condition considering it's vintage state. It would make a great accent piece in any room! I hope you'll make it a "keeper" in your home!
