Set of 4 Gien earthenware artichoke plates. Made in France. Dated to sometime in the mid 20th century based on the makers mark. These plates were quite possibly manufactured in Orleans, France to be exact due to the addition mark on the base.
One plate has a somewhat noticeable imperfection along the rim. This is photographed. Then another plate shows some wear to the glaze on two spots in the design, this is also photographed.
The Gein company has been producing dinnerware and tile since the early 1800s, and they are still alive and kicking to this very day! The main factory in Gein is definitely worth a Google search. It’s beautiful.
