This spectacular two-door cabinet features a faux bamboo frame framing tightly woven rattan panels in a striking diagonal herringbone pattern. Designed in the style of historic, high-end tortoiseshell bamboo pieces, this vintage cabinet recalls the glamorous aesthetic lineages of Dorothy Draper, Tony Duquette, and the upscale woven-reed works of Gabriella Crespi. This piece has been entirely transformed from its original plain dark stain through a labor-intensive, multi-step artisan process. To achieve the deep visual complexity of premium Maitland-Smith style furniture, the wood frame was first prepped and sealed before receiving a luminous metallic gold leaf base coat. A custom-formulated dark espresso glaze was then meticulously hand-mottled and stippled over the metallic layer, creating the fluid, organic patterning characteristic of genuine tortoiseshell that allows the gold undertones to catch the light beautifully. The top surface and door fronts retain their original natural split-cane textures, providing a rich tactile contrast to the newly glazed frame.Supported by ringed bamboo-style legs with curved bottom bracket stretchers, this unique accent chest seamlessly bridges the gap between eras and styles. It is designed in the style of Hollywood Regency, Palm Beach Regency, British Colonial, and Anglo-Indian aesthetics, making it a highly adaptable acquisition for an eclectic, Chinoiserie, or boho chic interior design project. This compact cabinet serves as an incredible conversation piece that will elevate any room and leave guests envious of its rare, bespoke beauty. It offers endless styling possibilities, serving as a glamorous compact bar cabinet or liquor station for entertaining, a stylish entryway console table to catch keys, a sofa end table in the living room, or a statement bedroom nightstand. The piece can even hide office clutter or bring decorative utility to a bathroom or powder room. See less
