Exceptional collection of four antique Haviland & Co. Limoges porcelain decorative plates, dating to approximately 1887. Each plate features a different finely detailed hand-decorated game-bird, creating a beautifully varied but cohesive set.
The plates feature an elegant scalloped and fluted form, with delicate gilded accents and an elaborate botanical border in warm sepia, brown, gray, and gold tones. The central wildlife vignettes are set within softly rendered landscapes, giving the collection the character of a traditional 19th-century sporting and country-house porcelain.
The reverse of the plates bears the desirable Haviland & Co. Limoges “H&C”/DÉPOSÉ mark, associated with Haviland production dating to approximately 1887.
This collection of 4 plates, originally part of a larger game-bird service, would be beautiful displayed together and are equally suited to a dining room, study, or country-inspired-home. It is a handsome collection with lovely decorative appeal given the added interest of different game-bird scenes rather than a repeated pattern.
Overall very good antique condition consistent with age and use.
