Deeply carved scrolling acanthus leaves, pierced foliage, C-scrolls and a foliate crest wind upward through the asymmetrical frame, creating the effect of a piece of decorative wall sculpture.

Each of the five small shelves measures approximately 6.25" wide × 4.5" deep, providing individual platforms for displaying porcelain, small bronzes, objets d'art or other collected pieces. The warm gold surface has developed gentle variation and wear that gives definition to the carving. Italian, circa 1940s–1950s. Carved wood with a gilt finish. Ready to hang.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
What makes this piece special is its scale. Most Italian giltwood wall brackets are small individual shelves; at 44 inches high, this one functions almost as a piece of wall sculpture, with five shelves seemingly growing out of the carved acanthus and scrollwork.

I would use it where its silhouette can really be seen—on a narrow wall between windows, beside a doorway, above a small console, or as an unexpected vertical accent in a collected room. And I wouldn't overcrowd it. Five small pieces of porcelain or a carefully chosen collection would allow the carving itself to remain part of the display.
