From an estate north of New Orleans, this umbrella stand was purchased in the mid 20th century and is solid cast brass. Borrowing from the Victorian and Art Nouveau styles, it is rich in detail from the dolphin handle at the top to the bottom shaped like an open parasol. The base is also decorated with bouquets and swags.
The top is fitted with 5 rings to hold umbrellas or walking sticks and the base has 3 feet to keep it securely on the floor.
