Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
Made for only a few years (1954 through 1957), this whimsical pattern by Jeannette Glass, with its harps (or lyres) on stippled pressed glass, is demurely elegant. The gold gilt trimmed scalloped edge gives it a finished look and is perfect for showcasing your special desserts at any gathering, casual or formal. The collection was promoted as a dessert set, made only in a limited number of pieces which included dessert plates, cups and saucers, coasters (two types), a two-handled rectangular tray and 7½” vase. Over a dozen varieties of the cake stand have been documented: plain, ruffled, blue, iridescent, pink and many variations in these colors and decorations.
The medium used is pressed glass; color is clear glass with gold gilt trim around the scalloped edge; diameter of plate is 10”; pedestal base diameter 4”; height 4¾”; interior plate diameter 9½”; weight 2 lbs. 13 oz. This beauty is over 70 years old and looks fabulous for its age! Indiscernible gilt wear on the scalloped edge that does not detract from its beauty or utility.
This elegant and whimsical piece will complement most any design sensibility and charmingly adorn any tablescape with panache at your next gathering!
Thanks for looking!
