A drop-front writing desk, crafted from solid wood and veneer, with two doors at the front and a drop-front revealing a writing surface.
The front is adorned with molded panels featuring a scalloped design, surmounted by a concealed drawer in the frieze, embellished with a raised lozenge motif. The slightly projecting uprights and the plinth base emphasize the piece's robustness and balance.
The drop-front opens to reveal a light wood interior with three drawers and a central niche. It also reveals a writing surface covered in black leather (old, showing signs of wear), offering a generous work area. The hardware, hinges, and keyhole escutcheon are original.
Beautiful warm patina, rich wood tones, and particularly visible decorative grain on the panels.
French work, 19th century, in the style of fine port or regional furniture.
