Crafted in France during the late 19th century, this Louis XIII style writing desk was sourced in Provence and is beautifully constructed from solid oak. The rectangular top is formed with a broad plank field framed by a mitered border, showcasing a warm honey-colored patina and striking natural grain developed over generations. A single full-width drawer spans the front apron and is fitted with a pair of brass ring pulls, offering generous storage while maintaining the desk's clean architectural lines. The desk is supported by bold barley twist legs united by an H-form stretcher with richly turned stretchers and a finely carved central finial, creating the strong sculptural presence that defines the Louis XIII style. Paneled aprons and molded corner blocks further emphasize the quality of its craftsmanship, while the substantial oak construction gives the piece exceptional stability. Whether placed in a study, library, living room, or office, this versatile French antique works equally well as a writing desk, executive desk, or library table. It has been structurally restored to ensure it is strong, stable, and ready for everyday use while preserving the rich character and authenticity acquired over more than a century. The oak has been finished with a hand-applied wax that enhances the depth and beauty of the wood.
