A beautifully married and preserved piece of American hospitality history, this 5‑piece Hotel Silver (silver‑soldered) tea and coffee service with footed tray was made by Reed & Barton and International Silver, exclusively for the iconic Hotel Statler. Every piece is stamped Hotel Statler on the underside, and the two teapots feature the hotel’s crest on the front—rare to find intact and together.
This curated set includes:
• Large teapot: 6.5” L × 4” W × 8” H Reed & Barton 1915
• Small teapot: 5.25” L × 3.5” W × 6.5” H. Reed & Barton 1930-1950’s
• Creamer: 4” L × 3” W × 4” H. International Silver 1955
• Sugar: 4.75” L × 3.125” W × 2.75” H. Reed & Barton 1930’s - 1940’s
• Footed tray: 15.125” L × 11.25” W × 1.5” H (engraved with an “S” at center) Reed & Barton 1948
The tray has a slight wobble to one foot—common in mid‑century hotel silver—but has been stabilized with a clear adhesive tab, making it fully functional while preserving the original foot.
Hotel silver was engineered to survive decades of constant service: heavy, durable, and beautifully utilitarian. This set embodies that “quiet luxury” look designers love—substantial weight, soft glow, and the unmistakable character of real mid‑century hotelware.
Historic Provenance
The Statler Hotels, founded by visionary hotelier Ellsworth Milton Statler, were among the most influential hotel chains in the United States. Statler revolutionized modern hospitality with innovations like private baths in every room, built‑in closets, and early air‑conditioning. In 1954, Hilton purchased the Statler chain, cementing its place in American hotel history. Reed & Barton produced silver‑soldered serviceware for Statler during the mid‑20th century, and complete sets like this are increasingly scarce.
This set is ideal for:
• Butler’s pantry display
• Coffee or tea service
• English, Cottagecore, & Traditional Interiors
• Collectors of hotel silver or mid‑century hospitality artifacts
A striking, substantial, and historically rich set ready for display or use.
