This is a stunning and delicate three-piece vintage Chinese tea set, known as a "Gaiwan" (lidded bowl). It consists of a matching saucer, a tea bowl, and a domed lid with a knob.
The exterior of all three pieces is richly decorated with a brilliant imperial yellow enamel ground. The sides of the tea bowl feature a vividly hand-painted golden-red dragon leaping amidst colorful clouds, a classic symbol of power and good fortune in Chinese culture.
The lid and the saucer are meticulously adorned with intricate scrolling vines and blooming lotus flowers in shades of pink, blue, green, and yellow. The rims of all three pieces are elegantly finished with a thin band of silver or platinum-toned metal.
