Gehry experimented with thin strips of maple to produce tables and chairs that were both incredibly strong and surprisingly lightweight. The result was a visually spectacular line of modern furniture pieces that he, an avid ice hockey fan, named after ice hockey terms.

Offered here is a “Face Off” dining table and a pair of “Hat Trick” dining side chairs. The dining table features a thick glass top and a bent maple pedestal base. The chairs, also made of bent maple, have the original black leather padded seats. All pieces are signed and dated 1993.

The 1990s era dining set is in fair to good used condition. All pieces show well and are sturdy and ready to use right away. The bent maple shows scuffs, scratches, and re-glued parts. The dining table’s glass top has significant scratches, as well as a chip on the edge, which has been smoothed out. The glass top is loosened from two of the bolts, which can be addressed with UV-cured epoxy glue. I didn’t re-glue the top in case the next owner would prefer to replace it with new glass. One dining chair had what looks like severe puppy bites on the legs. Those areas of wood loss have been filled in and repaired, but the repairs have not been blended. The original leather seats are in overall good shape with some tiny paint splatters and other signs of wear. Please see photos for more details about the condition of these pieces. The dining table measures 36” diameter and 28.75” tall. Each dining chair measures 19.75” wide, 22” deep, and 33.25” tall with an 18.5” seat height.

Glass top can be unbolted from base for transport if needed. See less
