I reimagined the faux bamboo frame in a multi-layered red faux tortoiseshell finish, built up in my Atelier to a crystalline depth you rarely see in contemporary décor. Then I hand gilded every bamboo node and the geometric inner fretwork in gold leaf, a parcel gilt technique that makes the red glow. The result is a vibrant, sculptural frame that catches ambient light and echoes the exotic luxury of vintage Maitland-Smith and LaBarge pieces.
