An exceptional metalwork cast bronze compote with equilateral diamond shape base on feet with vertical lines typical of the Deco era. Four winged dolphins in the ancient style support an urn shape below 2 circular rings connecting stem to bowl.

Oscar Bruno Bach was a German born American and was considered to be the most skilled metal worker of the early to mid 20th century.

Dolphins are symbols seen throughout art history as far back as the Minoan civilization, common in the Boroque period. They are viewed as auspicious sentinels of liberty, safe keeping and good luck, particularly good omens when related to seafaring vessels.
