Antique French mantel clock – circa 1860 – with half-hour and half-hour strike on a bell
This highly decorative French mantel clock from around 1860 impresses with its magnificent design in the Second Empire style. The graceful case combines exquisite fire gilding, richly crafted bronze appliqués, and elegantly veneered wood elements.
The dial is artfully crafted: gilded dial plate with floral engravings, enameled, domed cartouches with Roman numerals. Original, blued hands.
The clock features a high-quality French mantel movement with half-hour and hour strikes on a bell. The movement runs reliably and strikes clearly and distinctly. The signature on the front panel reads:
LAGARDE – Paris
