This elegant 19th-century French pendulum clock features a magnificent Rococo design with rich, curved decoration and finely crafted ornaments. The case is made of fire-gilded bronze (ormolu) and displays the typical asymmetrical shapes and floral elements of this era.
The enamel dial with Roman hour and Arabic minute markings is very well preserved and has finely crafted, gilded hands. The clock has an impressive decorative character and is a classic example of French craftsmanship.
It is a classic 8-day spring movement, typically with half-hour and hour strikes on a bell (gong or bowl), as was common in French pendulum clocks of this period.
