This piece fits firmly within the late Georgian–early Victorian “Antique Taste” period when English manufacturers looked to ancient Greece and Rome for design inspiration. English Neoclassical Revival Sauce Tureen, Staffordshire, likely Davenport or Ridgway & Sons, the domed lid with molded acanthus finial above urn and lyre transfer decoration within a rich iron-red and black classical border, the twin scroll handles raised on a circular foot, hand-painted pattern no. 3108 underside. Height 7 ½ in., width 9 ½ in. (handle to handle). Excellent color and condition. See less
